Punk Slime Recordings (aka PNKSLM) are happy to announce we've been invited over to host our very first official SXSW showcase!
PNKSLM started out in 2010, putting on some fairly notorious underground parties in London, bringing our favourite Rock and Roll bands and DJs from across the world to play at our DIY club. After relocating to Stockholm in 2013, we naturally evolved into a record label, and now 5 years later, we're incredibly proud of the ever growing family of artists we've built up under the PNKSLM name. We're bringing a small sample of the label's bands over to Austin with us this year, with all six live bands playing live Friday 15th March at The Velveeta Room. We'll be sharing more about each artist over the next few weeks, but we highly recommend you start to get to know them with the links below.
// Cherry Pickles
Our latest signing to the label, and one that many are already getting (rightfully) excited about. A duo of Priscilla from Brasil and Mimi from Birmingham UK, best described by BrooklynVegan as "cheeky fun for fans of The Cramps, Beat Happening and The Gories."

// Henrik Appel
Henrik Appel has been around on the Swedish music scene for over 13 years now, playing in more garage punk leaning bands such as Lion's Den and Martin Savage Gang. We recently released his debut solo record "Burning Bodies", which is a far more intimate stripped down affair than his previous outlets, with most songs being just him and a guitar, making it a record we're especially proud of. "This Swedish artist's debut album is a solid set of stripped-down, lo-fi garage-pop and yearning folk-rock" –KEXP

// Magic Potion
They've been somewhat of a cult band right from their first single "Deep Web" back in 2015, and have since made three critically acclaimed records, the "Melt" EP, "Pink Gum" LP, and most recently "Endless Graffiti" LP. Magic Potion somehow manage to be both raw and soothing at the same time, as put by Line Of Best Fit: "the perfect escape exactly when you need it most".

// MISS WORLD
Miss World is the solo project from Natalie Chalal from London, who currently lives in Toronto. Essentially she makes the best (and catchiest) garage pop songs we've come across in years, signing her was a total no-brainer. Stereogum said her self-aware hits "drip in the gloss of this generation’s pop culture cyber-space. She’s a meme-inspired princess with an Instagram aesthetic, but her music feels self-aware enough for Reddit."

// ShitKid
Maybe the one who needs the least introduction. ShitKid started in the bedroom of Åsa Söderqvist just three years ago, and she has quickly developed into an award winning established artist in Sweden, and is quickly taking over the world- already touring Europe with Melvins, gaining a fan out of Iggy Pop, and making her first SXSW trip last year. // SUDAKISTAN
The band that literally started PNKSLM, as we launched the label with their debut 7" single "Dale Gas". Over the years we've done several singles together, and their two mind-blowing LPs "Caballo Negro" and "Swedish Cobra". With most band members coming from South America, the latino edge behind the psychdelic rock they make really sets them apart from the genre. Regarded by many as one of the best live bands in Europe, we're super psyched to finally introduce them to America. Pitchfork once summed them up as "part Thee Oh Sees, part DFA1979... Pillaging, powerful stuff."
