Building future AI systems which are beneficial for life requires progress in several domains, including ethics, technical alignment, and cybersecurity. AI-relevant actors ought to cooperate on solving those problems and avoiding arms race dynamics that may lead to cutting corners on safety issues.
This workshop session gives an update on a recent report on AI strategy & coordination before exploring promising avenues for cooperation with the audience. We will approach AI strategy in three sections: (1) frameworks for coordination, (2) potential coordination scenarios, especially among governmental actors, among military actors, and among private actors, and (3) technological factors relevant to AI strategy, including cybersecurity and blockchains.
