Creating authentic, engaging travel content can be a bit of a paradox. While a select, lucky few have the opportunity to bounce from destination to destination (like the New York Times’ 52 Places Traveler), most content is produced by a network of global freelancers, operating in different locations and offering unique, locally-driven insights. And while the life of a travel journalist might sound like a dream job, the brief time they spend in each location doesn’t allow the opportunity to go beyond scratching the surface of a destination. This panel will explore the evolution of travel trends and journalism, and discuss why local content creators can provided a deeper look at a destination, creating the more authentic, locally focused travel content that Millennials crave.
