Last year, about 93,000 people sought asylum at the southern border, up 67 percent from 2017, according to U.S. government data. More and more are families. Photojournalists have accompanied massed migrants along the caravan route, documenting harrowing trips across rivers, violence at the border, family separation and even death to tell this story to the world. This panel discussion will explore covering this physically and emotionally grueling story, why images can have political and emotional impact and how news organizations decide what images are suitable to run on their pages.
