When it comes to changing disaster recovery, our first thought is not grassroots activism, nor is it the immigrant workforce. In the age of climate change, these key forces have come together to not only rebuild entire communities in the wake of destruction, but also to stand up for the rights of immigrants across America. A people-centered approach to climate resilience is already showing signs of making progress on immigration, social cohesion, the fight against corporate power and many other issues. Saket Soni and Maria Rodriguez, two leaders of grassroots efforts to fuse climate activism and immigration activism in ways that make each of them stronger, will share their strategies for getting ahead of disasters as a critical flashpoint for social change.
