Open source software (OSS) is transforming transportation. A growing number of organizations including the public sector, private sector, and academia are building OSS to collaboratively advance the research and development (R&D) of new mobility and safety solutions. Recently, OSS has accelerated the R&D of connected and automated vehicles (CAV), smart travel applications, and intelligent transportation systems (ITS) for managing our infrastructure. This session will bring together a diverse panel of Government, tech industry, and academic experts to highlight available OSS resources, examine opportunities as well as threats to innovation and collaboration, and discuss the impact and evolution of OSS in transportation. This session is included in a full-day of five USDOT-hosted sessions.
