The harvesting of many fresh fruits and vegetables are labor intensive. As the population ages, there will not be enough young people entering the workforce to do the hard tedious tasks to harvest them by hand. The key to keeping fresh fruits and vegetables available and affordable, in the future, will be automation. Robotics will play a vital role. This is the story of how Gary Wishnatzki came to recognize this and his journey to develop a commercial robotic strawberry harvester.
