According to the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), the global rate of species extinction is tens to perhaps hundreds of times higher compared to average extinction rates over the last 10 million years. This rapid loss of our planet’s biodiversity will not improve without transformative change, meaning “a fundamental, system-wide reorganization across technological, economic and social factors.”
As a wildlife conservation organization based in San Francisco and founded by a Silicon Valley entrepreneur, WCN is linking technology and biology, to help conservationists around the world protect endangered species. Whether it is using artificial intelligence for camera traps or monitoring deforestation, conservation is no longer just about the work on-the-ground, but now also the data in the cloud.
