Touring is more important than ever for musicians. Concert ticket revenue has increased by 500% over the last twenty years and touring revenue tops all other revenue streams for artists. However, the portion of industry touring revenue for the top 1% of artists has soared to more than 50% – more than double historical numbers. This trend is happening at the same time that the top 2% of artists claim more than 90% of streaming revenue.
