Women’s economic participation is a foundation for job creation, growth and a critical pillar for peace. In the United States, women’s labor force participation has nearly doubled since 1950. Because of this, the economy grew by two trillion dollars, significantly increasing wages and family income. Applying a gender lens to the U.S.-Pakistan economic relationship supports women and girls in Pakistan, Pakistan’s economic future and U.S. companies. Learn more about efforts like the U.S.-Pakistan Women’s Council, a public-private partnership between the State Department and Texas A&M University, that provides a platform for gender champions in government, business and civil society to build an inclusive economy in Pakistan and the rationale for efforts to integrate women’s issues in U.S. foreign policy.
