NASA has signaled through Artemis that the Moon will be the first off-Earth site for extended manned missions and humanity’s first home on another world. Unlike the Apollo 11 landing 50 years ago, NASA isn’t just going for flags and footprints. This time, we’re going to stay. Building a sustainable presence on the Moon requires a lot more than rockets – though we’ve got those, too. For a permanent Lunar settlement to exist, robust structures will need to be built on the Moon that provide better thermal, radiation, and micrometeorite protection than metal or inflatable habitats can provide. In partnership with NASA, ICON has kicked off “Project Olympus”... its effort to develop an off-Earth construction system using its 3D printing technologies.
