Although research shows women and people of color are making gains in representation in the entertainment industry, they are both still woefully underrepresented. And although companies are interested in closing the representation gap, barriers to entry ranging from the cost of recording equipment to the insular nature of the industry can make the recording industry one of the most difficult groups to enter.
In a unique program that is creating critical inroads for people of color, the students of the ERM (Entertainment and Recording Industry Management) program at TSU learn from faculty with real-world experience about the evolving technical trends of licensing, branding, sponsorship, finance, and digital capture and the changing face of distribution.
In this panel, real life students in this one-of-a-kind program share how they are taking their skills from study hall to the studio and opening the doors of the entertainment industry to all. They will discuss triumphs, catastrophies, and the edge that they have in the industry as students at an HBCU.
