A decade ago, Edward O. Wilson—Harvard professor and renowned father of sociobiology—observed “The real problem of humanity is the following: We have Paleolithic emotions, medieval institutions, and godlike technology.” Since Wilson made that statement, technology’s powers have grown exponentially, while the ancient impulses, biases and emotions of our brains have remained the same. Technology is outpacing the limitations of our brains.
In this session, Tristan will discuss principles for humane technology that embrace our Paleolithic emotions. He’ll outline how we could live surrounded by technology that protects the vulnerabilities and biases of our minds, and empowers humanity to live aligned with our values.
