This SXSW, join us at the Waller Creek Boathouse on Lady Bird Lake to celebrate Ghostly International’s 20th Anniversary with two nights of music under the stars.

Head to the waterfront at sunset each night for a range of performances from the label’s roster & friends, spanning both established and emerging practitioners of electronic pop, jazz, ambient, and experimental sound. Drop by the boathouse during the day to enjoy lounging on the docks, custom cocktails, a variety of outdoor activities and curated DJ sets.

This showcase is part of In the Element, a two-day activation presented by Atlas Obscura & GORE-TEX Brands at the Waller Creek Boathouse on Lady Bird Lake.

Day 2: Thursday, March 14, 2019

1:30 P.M. DJ SET BY REPTALIENS

Inspired by sci-fi art and literature, cult mentality, and deep connections, Reptaliens construct self-defined “dreamwave” songs touching on themes of simulated realities, stories of stockholm syndrome, and drugged out paranoid futuristic realities. Their musical influences range from Gary Wilson-esque jazzy/lounge chord progressions, to the warmth of Broadcast’s recording production and fidelity, to Todd Rundgren-esque outer space synth sounds.

2:30 P.M. DJ SET BY SHIGETO

Since 2010, the music of Zach Saginaw, who records as Shigeto, has cross-wired a host of musical influences, traversing jazz, hip-hop, electronic, ambient, funk, and folk. Across a growing body of work, the longtime Ghostly International pays tribute to his Japanese heritage and to the deep musical legacy of Detroit, his current home.

5:30 P.M. LONNIE HOLLEY

Lonnie Holley is an Alabama-born visual artist, musician, and filmmaker. His visual art is in the permanent collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Smithsonian American Art Museum, and many other museums. He has released three critically acclaimed studio albums, including MITH in 2018. His first film, I Snuck Off the Slave Ship, premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. Like the song that inspired it, the film is a metaphor for African American transcendence.

7:00 P.M. MARY LATTIMORE

Mary Lattimore is a harpist living in Los Angeles. She experiments with her Lyon and Healy Concert Grand harp and effects. Released to acclaim from the likes of NPR, Pitchfork, and The New Yorker, her latest LP on Ghostly International, Hundreds of Days, expresses mystified gratitude for the natural world. She has collaborated with such great artists as Meg Baird, Thurston Moore, and Sharon Van Etten.
